Convert Vinyl Records
The most long-lived recording medium of the 1900s, vinyl is currently experiencing something of a revival. Over the last century, many recordings, both commercial and private, were issued on limited pressings, and they are no longer available in any other format today. Many limited run pressings were issued as a way of sharing a live event, and we have also also transferred what might today be described as a demo tape of a singer from the 1950s who had the 78s made and distributed them to find work. We have worked with individuals and organisations to transfer different types of recordings in three different formats - 78s, LPs (33.3), 45s - which have included
- public and school musical concerts and recitals
- one-off and limited run pressings of private recordings
We can provide the digital versions back in a variety of formats, including WAV, MP3 and FLAC (but many other formats are also available if required), and they will be available to download from the cloud for an agreed period of time. We can also convert LPs to CDs (with tracking, if required) to allow people without access to the Internet to listen to recordings again, and we have also created YouTube videos with a fixed images to be shared either publicly or on a private channel.
The basic cost of transferring a vinyl record starts at £8.99 per record, regardless of length, which will create a two WAV files (one for each side of the record), which can be downloaded from the cloud. Tracking, or converting to other formats, may incur a small additional charge.
