Convert Audio Cassettes
From the 1960s to the 1990s, the audio cassette (or compact cassette, or tape) was a popular medium for private recordings, as the equipment and media were affordable. We have worked with individuals and organisations to transfer many different types of recordings which have included
- public and school musical concerts and recitals
- programmes recorded off the radio
- recordings of family members in conversation, including family memories and children's early words
- lectures and talks
- marketing material published at product launches on cassette (when it was a modern format)
- private recordings published by schools, choirs, orchestras
We can provide the digital versions back in a variety of formats, including WAV, MP3 and FLAC (but many other formats are also available if required), and they will be available to download from the cloud for an agreed period of time. We can also convert cassettes to CDs (with tracking, if required) to allow people without access to the Internet to listen to old recordings again, and we have also created YouTube videos with a fixed images to be shared either publicly or on a private channel.
The basic cost of transferring an audio cassette starts at £10.99 per cassette, regardless of length, which will create either one or two WAV files (depending whether the content continues over both sides, or is two separate recordings), which can be downloaded from the cloud. Tracking, or converting to other formats, may incur a small additional charge.
